The IHSA issues General Media Credentials to media outlets that generally cover three or more IHSA State Final events per school year. General Media Credentials are good for access into all IHSA State Finals and double as a parking pass at most State Final venues. Credentials are typically issued each August.

The IHSA office does not issue media credentials for regular-season or State Series (Regional, Sectional, Super-Sectional) events prior to the State Final round. For those events, contact the school hosting the event about its local media credential protocol.

Media outlets without General Media Credentials may apply for Single-Event State Final credentials by emailing Matt Troha (mtroha@ihsa.org). Broadcasters must submit the appropriate IHSA broadcast application — Radio/Audio for State Finals and Basketball Super-Sectionals, or Television/Video Streaming for any State Series round — and receive credentials as part of that application. Student media credentials for qualifying schools are submitted by the school Athletic Director or program supervisor.

IHSA media credentials are the property of the Illinois High School Association and may be revoked at any time. Credentials are non-transferable and must be visible at all times while working an event.

Tournament managers, site personnel, and game officials have final authority over media placement at all IHSA events. Media representatives must comply with all site, safety, and broadcast policies.

Credentials are issued for editorial coverage only. Commercial use of images or footage requires separate written permission from the IHSA.
